Gur-e-Amir in Samarkand

The tomb of Amir Timur (Gur-e-Amir) was built in 1404 and is the tomb of Tamerlan and his family members. Initially, the complex was built for the education of children and was to become the center of Islamic education. But in 1403 Muhammad Sultan, the grandson of Amir Timur, died, on whose orders the complex was built. Amir Timur had a hard time experiencing the loss of his grandson and ordered the construction of a mausoleum that would become part of this complex. But Amir Timur did not live up to the end of the construction of the mausoleum, as a result he was completed by another grandson of Amir Timur - Ulugbek. It is in this mausoleum that Amir Timur, his sons Shahrukh and Miranshah, the grandsons Muhammad Sultan and Ulugbek and the spiritual instructor of Amir Timur-Mir Said Baraka, are buried.
